Silkscreen print onto Fabriano Artistico Traditional off-white paper 200gsm
33 x 24 cm
Limited Edition of 40
Signed and numbered by the artist

This edition has been produced for Nottingham Contemporary by Lucy Stein on the occasion of the galleries 10th anniversary.

The work depicts Epona, the Celtic goddess of mares and foals (a nod to Stein’s home in rural Cornwall, UK). Epona is surrounded by names of goddesses from the global pantheon, whose names are written anti-clockwise – or "widdershins" in magical practice – to indicate a feeling of invocation and devotion.

All profits raised from the sale of this limited-edition work support Nottingham Contemporary’s free programme of exhibitions, educational activities and research programmes.

Lucy Stein (b. 1979) is a British born painter, whose work builds on an engagement with British modernist painting, feminist theory and women’s literature. Her work ranges from painting to performance.
