This woven wool blanket was produced for Nottingham Contemporary by Francis Upritchard in collaboration with Carolin Lerch of Pelican Avenue.
The illustration knitted into the blanket depicts one of Francis’s well-known sculptures of two intertwined, long limbed figures. The design also features Francis’s signature in a relief detail in the right-hand corner and on the reverse of this is a badge, which is hand numbered.
All profits raised from the sale of this limited-edition work support Nottingham Contemporary’s free programme of exhibitions, educational activities and research programmes.
Francis Upritchard (B. 1976) is a New Zealand born, London based artist who is best known for her array of archetypal figures from medieval knights to meditating hippies, painted in monochromatic or distinct patterns, and decorated with bespoke garments and objects. In 2009 she represented New Zealand at the Venice Biennale.
