On the occasion of Nottingham Contemporary’s tenth anniversary in 2019, the late French artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz created a special new artists’ edition.
The edition which comes in a frame designed by the artist, is conceived as a colour-study for a silk scarf. The repeat pattern, printed in five colours, is split into two halves to imply a fold in the fabric, front and back. Each edition is printed onto a hand-applied background in a colour which recurs in the frame design - resulting in each work being slightly different.
Versions of Study for a Gentleman’s Dress Scarf, have featured in Chaimowicz’s 2017 exhibition Now and Then at Indipendenza Roma, and in his 2018 exhibition Your Place or Mine at The Jewish Museum, New York.
All profits raised from the sale of this limited-edition work support Nottingham Contemporary’s free programme of exhibitions, educational activities and research programmes.
This edition is co-produced by FRAME London.
Marc Camille Chaimowicz (1947-2024) was a French artist who exhibited at Nottingham Contemporary in 2011 with the exhibition: Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Jean Genet: Act I & Act II, 2011.
